Rooted Bodywork & Lymphatics is a therapeutic massage and manual lymphatic drainage practice in Charlotte, NC dedicated to personalized, results driven care. Founded by Ava Barwick, Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) and Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT), the practice blends clinical knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology with a deeply intuitive, compassionate approach to healing.
Ava brings over 12 years of experience in therapeutic massage and clinical bodywork. She began her career in a medical massage clinic in Arizona, where she spent seven years developing advanced skills in treatment focused massage therapy before relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2022.
Her passion for specialized care led her to become certified in Manual Lymphatic Drainage using the Vodder Method in 2018, deepening her understanding of the lymphatic system and its essential role in reducing swelling, supporting immune function, and promoting recovery after injury or surgery.
In January 2025, Ava expanded her expertise by becoming a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT). This milestone is deeply connected to her own healing journey. After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Ava experienced firsthand the physical and emotional challenges that can accompany recovery. That experience strengthened her commitment to lymphatic care and inspired her to support others navigating similar paths.
